Endangered fish of Australia

Of the approximate 4400 fish that inhabit Australian waterways, about 90% (3960) of them are native, and only 300 of them are freshwater fish. About 10% of the 4400 species are listed as under threat - 4 Critically Endangered, 16 Endangered and 26 which are vulnerable. You may notice a lot of question marks here: don't panic! We're still looking for pictures - some of these little (and not so little) fish are a little camera shy! So, if you happen to have one you're happy for us to use, please contact us now!

Critically Endangered
- facing an extremely high risk of becoming extinct very soon
Endangered
- is in danger of becoming extinct
